JCI Prince George
JCI in Prince George is making a return in 2011 and we hope you plan to be a part of it. JCI is an organization the spans the globe in 115 countries around the world. In British Columbia, JCI membership is one of the strongest in Canada with 9 chapters around the province.
The BC region is a JCI hotbed with Chapters in Vernon, 2 in Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Williams Lake and Cranbrook. Check out some of the opportunities below within JCI.
Members can expect to learn and carry out projects and programs focusing on JCI's four key areas:
- Business Development
- Community Development
- International Development
- Individual Development
Did you know that JCI Prince George:
- was reponsible for numbering all the city's houses, prior to Canada Post
- purchased the city's first ambulance and donated it to the city
- organized the first community sports league
- founded the White Spruce Winter Carnival (later became Mardi Gras)
- founded Simon Fraser Days
- sponsored the national recongnized "Dump the Debt" program
- built the city's first swimming pool
- by Royal Proclamation, is the only non-military organization in the world allowed to wear the coveted "bearskin"
- funded the Hans Langner Memorial Scholarship at UNBC
- is self-funding and has never received a government grant
