JCI Prince George

JCI in Prince George is making a return in 2011 and we hope you plan to be a part of it. JCI is an organization the spans the globe in 115 countries around the world. In British Columbia, JCI membership is one of the strongest in Canada with 9 chapters around the province.

The BC region is a JCI hotbed with Chapters in Vernon, 2 in Kelowna, Penticton, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Williams Lake and Cranbrook. Check out some of the opportunities below within JCI.

Members can expect to learn and carry out projects and programs focusing on JCI's four key areas:

  • Business Development
  • Community Development
  • International Development
  • Individual Development

Did you know that JCI Prince George:

 

  • was reponsible for numbering all the city's houses, prior to Canada Post

 

  • purchased the city's first ambulance and donated it to the city

 

  • organized the first community sports league

 

  • founded the White Spruce Winter Carnival (later became Mardi Gras)

 

  • founded Simon Fraser Days

 

  • sponsored the national recongnized "Dump the Debt" program

 

  • built the city's first swimming pool

 

  • by Royal Proclamation, is the only non-military organization in the world allowed to wear the coveted "bearskin"

 

  • funded the Hans Langner Memorial Scholarship at UNBC

 

  • is self-funding and has never received a government grant

JCI Abbotsford

 

 

 

August 2011 JCI Abbotsford officially became a chapter pending affiliation with JCI Canada!

 

JCI in Abbotsford is the second chapter extention in BC this year and we hope you plan to be a part of it. JCI is an organization the spans the globe in 115 countries around the world. In British Columbia, JCI membership is one of the strongest in Canada with 9 chapters around the province.

BC is a JCI hotbed with Chapters in Vernon, Vancouver, 2 in Kelowna, Penticton, Kamloops, Prince George, Williams Lake and in Cranbrook. Check out some of the opportunities below within JCI.

Kelowna Jaycees

Originally founded in 1935 as the Kelowna Junior Board of Trade, the Kelowna Jaycees are celebrating their 75th Anniversary in 2010. The Kelowna Jaycees are one of the long standing success stories in developing young leaders in Canada.

The Kelowna Jaycees are a group of young male professionals and entrepreneurs that strive to grow as individuals while positively impacting our community, Kelowna BC.

We look to strengthen our leadership characteristics by being involved, taking different courses, or working on local, regional, national and international events and projects - all voluntary and all in a welcoming environment.

The Kelowna Jaycees hold a pair of major events every year in support of local Charities:  The Annual Gentlemen's Dinner in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Okanagan and the Smoke on the Water International BBQ Festival.

JCI Okanagan

JCI Okanagan is Kelowna's premier organization that empowers women to achieve personal fulfilment. Membership is open to individuals who would like the opportunity to develop new skills and reach their greatest potential.

At JCI, we encourage our members to get involved and make a difference in our community. We focus on leadership development through managing projects, internal training, and real hands-on experience. We provide an opportunity for business networking, international travel and the development of lifelong friendships.

A very popular current event held by JCI Okanagan is the Urban Adventure Challenge which benefits the Tiny Bundles Program for the Kelowna Food Bank. In 2011, the event was renamed the FH&P Lawyers Urban Race.

JCI Lower Mainland

Every month at JCI Lower Mainland, we organize and run a broad range of business and social events. Whether it's an evening with a prominent business or community leader as part of our "Inspiring Speakers Series"; a workshop to help you hone up on those essential business skills; taking part in our Effective Speaking public speaking training; attending the many JCI conventions; or just having a drink with friends in the Chapter - we enjoy what we do and we do it locally, nationally and internationally!

JCI Kootenay

Located in Cranbrook BC, JCI Kootenay has re-established itself as one of the leading Chapters in Canada.  The chapter boasts the 2008 JCI Canada Effective Speaking Champion in Mike Adams and the 2010 Regional President and 2011 National Vice President Joey Hoechsmann. The Chapter will also be hosting the 2012 National Conference.
